Frequently asked questions

What is Bridge-Day?

Bridge-Day is a free holiday optimizer that finds long weekends by combining public holidays, your regular days off, and a small amount of annual leave. Choose a country and available year, then tailor the plan to your work schedule.

Is Bridge-Day free, and do I need an account?

Bridge-Day is free to use and does not currently require an account or profile. Planner settings and saved plans are kept on your device.

Which countries and years can I plan?

Browse the country calendar directory to see which country-and-year calendars are currently available. Coverage depends on published calendar data; not every country has data for every year or region.

How are long weekends calculated?

The planner looks for consecutive date ranges that include a public holiday and at least one leave day, while accounting for your workweek, leave budget, days-off target, and maximum break count. Suggested breaks are at least three days long and use no more than two leave days each.

What can I customize in my plan?

Choose your leave budget, days-off target, maximum breaks, normal working days, holiday categories to exclude, and dates when you cannot take leave. Bridge-Day recalculates suggestions when you change these settings.

How do unavailable dates affect public holidays?

Add dates in YYYY-MM-DD format under “Dates you cannot take leave.” A blocked date that would otherwise be a working day cannot be used as leave. If it is a public holiday on a day you normally work, the optimizer treats it as a day you must work and recalculates the plan.

What do the holiday stars mean?

One star marks an estimated date that may change. Two stars mark a non-public holiday; its supplied category appears with the entry. Public holidays can be used to find breaks, while non-public entries are shown for information. Check estimated dates and employer rules before making plans.

Can I save plans or add a break to my calendar?

Save and compare up to eight plans on the same device. You can also open a suggested break in Google Calendar or Outlook, or download an .ics file for Apple Calendar.

Where does holiday data come from, and are the dates guaranteed?

Bridge-Day credits the Open-Source Python-Holidays Library for holiday information. Calendar coverage, regional details, and date certainty vary by country and year. Dates are planning information, not a guarantee of time off; verify important holidays with official local sources and your employer.

How do I know if a calendar is current or available offline?

The calendar status shows whether the latest calendar or a locally saved copy is being used. When provided, the app also shows the calendar update date and last-fetch time. A missing country-year, network problem, or unreadable calendar can prevent a fresh calendar from loading.

Which languages does Bridge-Day support?

The interface supports English, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Modern Standard Arabic, French, Bengali, Portuguese, Russian, Urdu, Indonesian, German. Holiday names come from calendar data and may not be translated when a localized name is unavailable.

How can I report a holiday correction?

Email fahadhossainfaysal@gmail.com with the country, year, holiday name, date shown, suggested correction, and an official source link if available.
